Workshop: “Breast Cancer in Young women


Indian Cancer Society has been in the Vanguard of Cancer Control measures in Delhi and the NCR. We offer Awareness Talks by trained Volunteers, and a professionally manned Cancer Detection Centre at Babar Road, supplemented by a Mobile Unit that reaches Cancer screening to far flung areas and populations. During the Cooler months, we undertake Public Contact programmes reaching out to a wider audience through Workshops and a Seminar, culminating in the Walk for Cancer Awareness in November. 2013 has been declared the month of Breast Cancer Awareness, and Indian Cancer Society has dedicated the year to Breast Cancer in Young Women. To educate vulnerable population of women in academia and the Corporate World, Indian Cancer Society has arranged 2 Workshops:

1. Wednesday, 25th Sept., 2013 at Miranda House, Delhi University, 11.00 am – 1.00 pm

2. Thursday, 7th Nov., 2013 at Epicentre, Gurgaon (6.00pm – 8.00pm)

we have room for 150 persons. The Workshop will take the form of a Keynote address / Panel Discussion with 3 experts / Q&A / Rapid fire Questions with prizes for correct answers. It will last 90 minutes. Some topics of discussion will be:

1. Oncology Counselor – Burden in India among all ages – Risk factors – High Risk Candidates/ Management – Screening – what age?

2. Surgeon – The importance of early detection in reducing trauma of breast surgery – Lumpectomy vs mastectomy – Breast Conservation

3. Medical Oncologist – The effects of chemotherapy – Gene Testing – Fertility/ Sexuality – Physical appearance
